In March 2022, Dunbar Walking Football were succesful in obtaining a grant of £2,795 from the Big Lottery Awards for All Fund. This was a tremendous boost to the group with the main aim of the application to ensure our sessions remain safe during covid times, encouraging older members of the community to become active outdoors and reduce the sharing of bibs etc. All regular participants will be supplied with waterproof jackets and training tops to replace our existing shared bibs plus playing kit for use by the team in competitions, friendly games etc. Web: www.tnlcommunityfund.org.uk/funding/programmes?location=scotland
Dunbar Walking Football were successful in obtaining a grant of £2500 from the East Lammermuir Community Fund in their June 2022 funding allocation. This will be used to provide a secure storage container at Hallhill to keep all the equipment including balls, bibs, cones, first aid equipment etc along with purchasing warm weather track suit tops for all participants. Dunbar Walking Football were fortunate to receive £400 through the Asda Foundation Green Token Scheme through Dunbar Asda. This funding will be used to subsidise entry fees into competitions etc over the next year.
Walking Football Scotland Dunbar has been affiliated to the lead body for walking football in Scotland since 2017 who are responsible for the governance, promotion event organisation for walking football in Scotland. Web:: www.walkingfootballscotland.org
Be Green, Rotary Club of Dunbar, Dunbar Area Partnership & Dunbar Community Council The above organisations each donated £250 which allowed Dunbar WF to purchase a portable defibrillator that is available pitch side at all walking football sessions.
